Ahmedabad 1930
Ahmedabad is a city in the Indian state of Gujerat. In common with many Indian cities, it has a wonderful railway station. Unlike many in India, however, the station in Ahmedabad is relatively new. It is home to a large mural, which commemorates the 1930 Salt March led by the Mahatma, Mohandas K Gandhi.
The Salt March was a major victory for Gandhi's policy of non-violence and civil disobedience. It marked the start of the crumbling of Britain's repressive hegemony over the sub-continent.
